Ponte (also known as Ponte Roma, Punto di Roma etc) is a doubleface jersey in a soft and staple quality with firm stretch and excellent ability to return to its original shape when stretched. It is heavier than a regular jersey, because it is doubleface and because it has a more dense texture.
This one is a bit special because it is knitted with a black contrast to add a little texture to the appearance.
A real ponte always contains 20-30% nylon, because this is the fiber required to bind the two layers and ensure the characteristic staple stretch. Most other ponte qualities are made with viscose or polyester, but this one is made with TENCEL fibers - so besides from being gorgeous to look at and touch, it is also made with sustainable fibers.
Ponte is perfect for skirts, dresses, trousers and tops, where you need a heavier, but still soft, knitted fabric with a firm and staple stretch and the ability to stay in shape.

TENCEL™ is a regenerated fiber, which is made of wood pulp from sustainably certified beech and eucalyptus. The cellulose fibres from the wood are made into fibres that can be spun and woven. This all happens in a closed loop production process, with no waste, since all water, energy etc. are reused or re-processed
The composition of the natural fibres from the wood makes TENCEL™ very comfortable to wear. It is soft and breathable, and it has a great ability to absorb moisture and transport it away from the body. From natures hand, the fibers are anti-bacterial, and TENCEL™ requires less washing. Since it is natural fibers, TENCEL™ doesn't get static, and it won't cling to the body.
