Ladies "Go To" Shirtwaist Dress: Fit and Flare, Modern, Retro, WWII, 1939-1950s, Civilian Uniform, Character and Costume Sewing Pattern with sizes 4 - 32 all included.
Ladies "Go To" Shirtwaist Dress-- Fit and Flare -- 1939 to Early 1950s, Sizes 4 - 32. Modern, Retro, Theater or Reenactor. Copied from a discontinued extant garment. The fit of the bodice has intentional ease to enable free movement for dance, exercise or work. There are instructions on how to make the garment fit tighter if desired. The following design elements are all included in the pattern and are interchangeable. There is a design guide to assist in choosing which elements you may want to combine in your dress. This pattern is a dress with separate bodice and skirt with the bodice ending at the natural waist. The bodice front has horizontal bust darts (which can be repositioned as desired) and four pleats at the waist. The bodice back has a two piece back with a yoke and wide lower back gathered into it. The back has two pleats at the waist for fitting. There are two sleeve options: a short and a long sleeve. Both sleeves have a very full sleeve head which is either darted, pleated, or gathered into the armscye. The short sleeve can be made plain, with a ribbon lattice decoration, or the choice of 3 cuffs. The cuffs are plain, wing, or pointed. The long sleeve can be made plain or with a cuff. There are 4 necklines from which to choose, all of which can be made with a collar or plain without a collar. The necklines are V-Neck, High-Neck, Lapel or Scoop. The High Neck can have a Long Shirt Collar or a Spread Collar. The Lapel Neckline can be made with the Shirt or Spread Collar. The Scoop is made plain with no collar. There are a choice of two optional fabric belts, narrow at 1 3/4 inches wide and one wide at 2 3/4 inches wide. There are two different skirts; one is a wide A-line and the other is flared. Both skirts can be made with either no pockets, large inserted pockets, or patch pockets. There is an option of a breast pocket, with either lattice trim or plain. There are a choice of three aprons; plain, decorated with a ribbon lattice, or made with contrast areas of color. There are four headpieces included; a ribbon decorated lattice bandette, a contrast color bandette, a nurse cap, and a chef hat.
