From ACannyLass:

“Sometimes we are blessed with being able to choose the time, and the arena, and the manner of our revolution, but more usually we must do battle where we are standing.” - Audre Lorde, Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches

This is a downloadable PDF embroidery pattern for the February 2017 Audre Lorde quote design of the Give A Stitch embroidery project. Each month between December 2016 and December 2017 I will be releasing an embroidery pattern with all profits of the sale going towards a progressive cause.

This month all proceeds from the sale of this embroidery pattern will be donated to Black Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter is a chapter based national organization intended to build connections between Black people and allies to fight anti-Black racism, to spark dialogue among Black people, and to facilitate the types of connections necessary to encourage social action and engagement. It was organized in 2012 by three Black queer women, Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors, which was why for this month’s pattern I chose to take inspiration from another Black queer woman, Audre Lorde, as a meditation on, and homage to, the trailblazing Black women who have long been fighting for many of the freedoms we are still fighting for and afraid of losing. You can find out more about Black Lives Matter, their work, and how to get involved on their website: www.blacklivesmatter.com.

This pattern is sized for a minimum 6" hoop and is perfect for beginner embroiderers, but an experienced stitcher could have a lot of fun going wild with it too!
