From Untitled Thoughts:

The Bijou Beret is a wonderful scrap buster! This fun accessory is perfect for using up any wool fabric scraps left over from coat making, or even utilizing more structured material scraps. It's also a great project to play with a bit of embroidery if you really want to jazz it up.  Plus it is a super fun & quick sew!

This pattern has:

  • Paperless Marking + Cutting Guide
  • Optional Embroidery Design
  • Sewing + Caring for Wool Instructions
  • Additional Resources Links inside Instruction Booklet to aid in common fit + adjustments
  • Photographed Sewalong Instructions (+ Video Instructions as part of World Frocktails!)

Recommended Fabrics:

The Bijou was originally designed to utilize odd bits of wool scraps typically left over from creating winter coats. However, that doesn't mean you have to make your beret out of wool! Below are some alternatives that you can use:

  • Mid-heavy weight woven velvet, duchess satin, suede. (The following fabrics might require use of interfacing to achieve the proper structure): Tropical weight wool, wool suiting, mid-weight twill, mid-weight corduroy, quilting cotton.

Please note that it is not recommended that you use very light weight fabrics for this pattern as they do not have the structure necessary to hold up the shape of the beret. Feel free to experiment with mid-weight fabrics + interfacing if you don't have access to any heavier weight fabrics.
