From Atelier Louise:

Would you like to make your own shoes?

This is the second in a series of patterns from Atelier Louise that will teach you how to make your own shoes at home. The simple style of the Brighton Sandals has only three straps, including the ankle strap which is secured by a button stud, making this a great project for beginning shoemakers.

Each pattern in this series builds on the knowledge and skills developed in previous patterns and introduces new techniques, styles, materials and/or tools to help you develop your shoemaking skills. In this pattern you will learn how to:

  • sew leather using a sewing machine
  • punch holes and cut slots in your straps
  • skive the ends of your straps
  • attach a button stud

Containing full-colour photographs and written instructions, the downloadable pattern book will guide you step-by-step through the process of making your very own pair of sandals, using techniques, tools and materials that have been adapted for successful shoemaking at home.
