From Elbe Textiles:

The Cornell Shirt is a casual, oversized design featuring drop shoulders and a grandpa collar. View A has a button up placket at the front, extending down past the waist, and View B has a classic button stand at the front. The insides are finished cleanly with a mix of French seams and facings. It’s recommended to make a toile first in an inexpensive fabric to work out any fitting alterations you may need, before cutting into your chosen fabric.

NOTE: As of January 2023, the Cornell Shirt pattern has been updated. What's changed:

  • it's now a layered PDF pattern - print only the size(s) you want;
  • An extra size has been added to keep in line with my current menswear size chart;
  • pattern pieces are sizes H to M having a slightly wider sleeve;
  • the centre front placket in View A has been shortened a few centimetres;
  • a few small tweaks have been made here and there to make the graphics more aesthetically pleasing; and
  • links to relevant blog posts and videos are included within the instructions to make your sewing journey even easier!

Suggested Fabrics: Soft cotton shirting, lightweight/midweight washed linen, lyocell, silk noil, hemp, cotton cheesecloth, cotton voile – any soft, natural woven fabrics with good drape.

Sizes Available: A to M  - see size chart in images
To fit chest 147 cm/58", hips 143 cm/53.5"

Please note: This is my menswear size chart. But this is a gender neutral style and I’m sure a range of bodies will wear this. So when looking at this size chart, please focus on the chest measurement when choosing your size, and not the hip. If in doubt, check the finished garment measurements below. There is ample ease allowed in this pattern and the pattern is laid out in a way to make it easy to grade between sizes.

This pattern has been drafted for a height of 5’8 (177cm)
