From Merchant & Mills:

A bias-cut dress is sexy. It will drape, flow and flute as it moves with your body, skimming your curves to make you feel like a screen siren. It will stretch but not cling, giving outline to your figure without showing every lump and bump as can happen with a stretch knit fabric.

The Curlew has three variations using two patterns. The dress takes all the qualities of a bias-cut dress described above and adds a scooped neckline, extra-long skinny sleeves and curved back waist-seam for a grown-up statement of femininity. It is semi-fitted and finishes below the knee. We have made it in grey linen and 5 oz. denim to give it a relaxed feel to the glamorous shape.

The sleeveless T-shirt has its own separate pattern with a slightly higher neckline so it can be worn under the dress, just peeping out around the neck. The neck and armhole are bound with a bias trim and all the seams are French seams. We have made two in a fine muslin cotton and layered them one on top of the other.

The Curlew top is made from the T-shirt pattern with the dress pattern sleeves. We have made one in fine cotton muslin with a self-lined body.
