For our waistcoat we chose a lightweight taffeta that has a papertouch look to it with iridescent colours. If you decide to give this project a go we suggest you look for a fabric that emphasizes the silhouette of the waistcoat and the front draping, one that stands out a bit from the body rather than fall close to it.
Good fabrics would be poplin, paper taffeta, lightweight shantung, lightweigh satin, lightweight crepe, lLightweight linen and lightweight wool flannel.
