An effortless, elegant style, the Fable Dress is equally at home pottering around the garden, or dressed up for an evening out. The fit is relaxed, but not oversized, with a princess seam bodice, gently-gathered skirt, and gloriously deep inseam pockets. The Fable features a functional button front, but can also slip over the head without fasteners. With three sleeve lengths and options for both a faced or fully-lined bodice, the Fable adapts with the seasons for year-round wear. Optional waist ties or back bodice elastic add versatility for fluctuating weight, and provide plenty of choice for creating different looks.
Suggested Fabrics: This pattern requires fabric with a good amount of drape to avoid a stiff looking garment in the skirt, but thick enough to avoid a transparent garment.
- Summer options include: lightweight linen, rayon, silk, seersucker, Tencel, chambray. Double gauze, voile, georgette, lawn, and muslins can be used but will need to be lined to add some support and reduce sheerness.
- Winter options include: chambray, wool, soft corduroy, thinner velvet.
- Lining options include: cotton poplin, voile, lawn, and other lightweight breathable wovens.
