From Twig + Tale:
Bundle up and send them out to play in a cosy coat that features beautiful finishes and practical details. A generous hood to keep raindrops and wind off, deep pockets for stashing treasures, and a relaxed comfortable fit that is ready to run, jump, and climb.
The Grove features a beautifully faced lining that you will be so proud of - you'll want to show off the inside of the coat too!
Details:
- Two length options (low hip or mid-thigh)
- Pixie hood or classic round hood
- Darted saddle sleeves
- Inseam pockets
- Faced and fully lined
Skills you will learn: sewing saddle sleeves, facings, bagging out a lining, in-seam pockets. Fitting adjustment resources included.
Recommended Fabrics:
- Exterior - Medium to heavyweight woven fabrics with structure and no/little stretch, e.g. Wool coating, soft shell, twill denim, velvet, canvas, oil cloth. If using substantially thicker fabrics such as wool blankets, the double thickness of the exterior and facing may take it challenging to sew buttonholes or add snaps. In this case, we recommend choosing a secondary fabric for the facings that would allow for this.
- Lining - Due to the construction method of this coat, you will need lightweight woven fabrics with no stretch: tercel, bomber, suit lining, satin, sateen, silk. You can use natural fibres like cotton, or viscose rayon but bear in mind they might "stick" to the layers under the coat, rather than slide over them. Fuzzy or thicker linings such as minky or sherpa are not recommended.
