Chinese calligraphy is so beautiful and elegant. This piece was inspired by a book in which I saw the Shou character for "long life" written dozens of different ways.
Each of the red centers in the lattice squares is a different way. Think of each as a mini stitched blessing for a long life. (You'll need it if you have as much stash as I do.)
This design uses five shades of Carrie's Thread, with a DMC conversion included. In the thread packs, I'm including 2 skeins each of the red and darkest gray as some stitchers might need them depending on the fabric count and stitching methods.
121 x121 stitch count. Individual squares and smaller grouping of squares offer additional possibilities.
