From Merchant & Mills:

Paynter Jacket Co. make limited edition jackets four times a year that are made to order, so there's no waste from over production. Their jackets are classic pieces that will stand the test of time and get better with age. The Field Jacket is Paynter's first make-your-own jacket pattern in collaboration with Merchant & Mills.

The Field Jacket is a timeless style packed with intricate details. Two chest flap pockets. Two waist flap pockets with hidden side entry. Buttoned front with storm shield. Side cinches on the back. Tapered sleeves with elbow patches. Double button cuffs with pointed tabs. Unstructured collar. Interior phone, passport and card pocket. Hangloop on collar. Reinforced and bar-tacked on stress points.

All paper patterns will include two woven labels, one (3"x3") is to be positioned inside the jacket near the right hip and the other (2"x2") is for the back neck. The larger label has been designed by @hello.ludio. Lucie’s design features the sun and the moon to represent time and getting lost in the practice of making. These labels are only available in the paper pattern, not PDF, and won’t be sold elsewhere.

Skill Level: Advanced. We have a blog post here, that shows you how to change the hip pocket to a patch pocket, this makes it an easier sew and also means you go through slightly less layers so you could use a thicker fabric. Need sewing help? We have made a You Tube video that takes you through the two trickier steps of the Paynter pattern, the placket and the hip pockets. You can view that video here.

Recommended Fabrics: We recommend light to medium weight wovens up to 8oz - cotton twill, denim, wool, dry oilskin. There are 9 layers to sew through during the pocket construction, so check the fabric you choose can be accommodated by your sewing machine.

Sizes: UK XS - XXL (see size chart, incl. finished measurements)
Chest/Bust 86 cm/33.75" - 139 cm/54.75"
Hip 94 cm/37" - 147 cm/57.75"

For sizing we would recommend checking the finished measurements against a jacket that you like the fit of.
